You must complete an approved teacher education program at an accredited college and pass any required tests to show that you are "highly qualified" as required by the No Child Left Behind Act. As part of your program, you will also complete student teaching with an experienced educator.

The requirements for a teaching degree vary from state to state but for the most part you must obtain a bachelors degree in education and apply for a teachers license.

Qualification differ from state to state and between public and private schools. For any public school you'll need to have a bachelors in what you're teaching (ie English for English teachers) and a license from the state to teach. Private schools might not require you to have a state license, but you will need an undergraduate degree at least.

Teachers must have a masters now to enter the profession. First you must get your bachelors, if teaching elementary, in education, if secondary, then in your area of expertise.

This would depend on the state that you want to work in. Do not take a bunch of course work in one state, get your qualifications and expect the qualifications to transfer over to another state. Make sure you check first.

It requires a mixture of college classwork and a period of practical training (Student Teaching)in the classroom. Upon successful completion of both of these, you are finally required to pass a test of your knowledge to be given a license by the state to be allowed in the class room.
