I would not recommend giving your puppy a haircut yourself! Puppies are jumpy and very mobile, so you might hurt the dog on accident. Because you are not a professional, this is highly likely. You don't want the puppy to be scared of you for the rest of its life, so your safer bet is to visit a groomer.

Starting with the head pull the hair back around the eyes. Trim the hair between eyes by starting at the back of the stop of the nose and end at the upper corner of the eyes. Trim down around his eyes behind the mustache. Shave the neck all the way up to the back of the head and around ears.

Because of the texture of shih tzu hair, it would be difficult to do a puppy cut at home. It requires trimming the fur very close to the eyes and mouth and may not be safe at home. It is easy to find a reasonably priced groomer, so that you won't have to do it yourself.

Though its not easy to give a shih tzu a puppy cut all by yourself, you can do a good job with the right grooming tools. You'll require fine shears and also scissor-like nail clippers.

Usually they will give them a cut for a peakingese becaus they are almost idetical to each other. Your groomer will do whatever you want though.

This not a good idea. Puppies are wiggly and uncooperative so grooming a puppy at home can easily become a trip to the emergency room. It is far safer and easier to take him to the groomer.
