Question by  chappystick (43)

How do you get the answer to 5 - 1/2(x - 6) = 4?

+5

Answer by  Lordschild (1398)

First subtract 5 from each side of the equation. Then multiply each side by -1. Then multiply each side by 2. Then add 6 to each side. The answer is x = 8.

Subtract 5 from both sides, then divide both sides by negative 1/2 (multiply by -2), then add 6 to both sides. The answer is x=8.

At first transpose 4 to left and -1/2(x-6) to right. Then it becomes 1=1/2(x-6). Then transpose 1/2 to left. It becomes 1*2/1= x-6. Now we get x-6=2. At last transpose -6 to right. x=2+6. Adding 2 and 6 we get 8. Therefore the value of x is 8. This the solution of the above equation.

First substract 5 from both sides of the equation and you get: - 1/2(x - 6) = -1 Then multiply both sides by -2 and you get: x - 6 = 2 Finally add 6 to both sides and you get: x = 8 That is the answer, x equal 8.
