To rid your yard of chiggers, and help with prevention, kill their habitats. Keep your yard trimmed low and weeds pulled during spring and summer (chiggers thrive during these seasons). Purchase repellents and keep your body covered. Don't worry, chiggers do not burrow as told by old myths. For chigger bite symptoms use Calamine lotion and oral medications like Benadryl.

You can get rid of chiggers by purchasing pesticides for fleas/chiggers at your local garden center. Clean your yard of all decaying limbs or leaves. Then spray the yard as per the pesticides instructions. You can wait a few weeks and reapply to make sure you have killed any eggs that may still be alive.
