Many colleges with education programs offer a certificate in the ESL area. You may need a state certificate to teach in the schools; overseas you may need a Cambridge certificate.

There are institutes around the world that offer intensive courses, usually about a month long, that give really helpful learning for getting better in the classroom as well as a certificate. Research carefully to be sure they are well organized with good theory as well as teaching practice. Some offer a combination of classroom and on line learning.
