Germinating seeds is very easy. For small fruit seeds you can either plant them or putting them on a wet paper towel, in a plastic bag, in a warm location.

To germinate plant seeds, place a small amount of growth medium into a plant container. Sprinkle seeds onto the medium and lightly cover. Water so that the growth medium stays moist, but is not saturated with water. Expose the seed to sunlight or plant growth lights, keeping soil moist.

How I do mine is I put them in a bowl of warm water over night and let them soak so it starts to open the pod. But it also depends on what seeds you are trying to germinate they have different ways of doing it for different things I do it that way for my vegetables.

Using Pearlite, Vermeculite, and Peat Moss will give you an excellent soilless seeding mix. Reading the back of a seed package will instruct you on specific growing tips. Plant as instucted and do suggest covering the seed tray with a clear bag. Check daily for moisture, then remove the bag once seeds have sprouted.
