How do you do piercings yourself?

I would like to pierce my ears myself and pierce my sister's navel.

First you take a blood born pathogens class and register with your local piercer as an apprentice for a year. Seriously, home piercing aren't a good idea.

That is really not the smartest thing to do. Most people do not have access to sterile equipment and do not take the proper actions to make sure that the holes heal properly. So basically the piercings end up getting infected. I suggest you get them done professionally, especially the navel. Those tend to get infected easily.

Ear and body piercing should always be left to the professionals. Serious nerve damage can be the result of self-piercing. Piercing is an exact science because of the many important nerves that must be avoided when puncturing skin. Professional piercers acquire proper training and education necessary to safely pierce someone's body.
