For older rabbits, the best way to determine the sex is to restrain it and get a good look at the hole near the anus. When you apply pressure around this hole, you will see either a slit or a protrusion. Slits for female, protrusions for males.

When a rabbit is about 9 weeks old, then you can determine its sex. Between the rear legs of the rabbit, under the fur if you could find a penis and testicles, it is a male but in case of absence of this, it would be a female. My advice is to go to your local vet for advice.

To determine the sex of a rabbit carefully lay it on its back on your lap (holding the scruff of the neck if you need to) and gently pressing on either side of it's bunny privates, if it's a male the penis will extend and you know it's a boy!

It is very difficult to sex a rabbit - even vets can get it wrong. You need to lay the rabbit on its back and pop its vent by applying pressure towards its tail. If it is female you should see an inverted 'T' shape, if its male you may see a protuberance.

The best way is to turn the rabbit upside down on its back and lightly push down with two fingers near the area where they eliminate. The determination can be difficult in very young rabbits, as they are not fully developed.
