How do you determine how much topsoil to get?

It depends on what you are planting a ton of soil usually covers around a hundred square foot at two inches deep. So if you are planting a flower bed that is ten by ten, then you should have it at least ten to twelve inches deep in the flower bed.

You first determine how many inches you want to add to your yard. Once you have that figured out you divide the volume of the bag to that of your desired inches. then you divide that answer by the square feet (inches/12) of your yard

The best way to to mesure the area you are looking to cover. Figure out how many square yards you need. Usually when ording topsoil, the square yard they deliver is about 2 inches thick. Witht that said, use this caculation to determine: Take the width X the length = Square feet. Divide that by 9 gives you square yards.

to determine how much top soil measure the plot normally a ton covers ten square yard roughly six inchs deep but it does settle so over order
