The chest of a human is the thorax, the area within the ribcage that contains the heart and lungs. The exterior chest is spanned by the pectorals and in female subject includes the breasts.

Although many people will define the word, chest (thorax), differently, the medical definition is: the part of a person's body that is between the neck to the abdomen. It is the home of the lungs, the heart, and part of the aorta and created by the dorsal vertebrae, the ribs, and the sternum.
