Prilosec has a pregnancy category of C, which means that animal reproduction studies have shown that this drug can cause harm on animal fetus. There is no adequate information on human fetuses, but it is recommended to stay away from Prilosec anyways, just in case. Either way, always consult your doctor before taking anything during pregnancy.

I don't know if there is a "cure" for heartburn when you're pregnant except giving birth. That said, most over the counter medications for heartburn are safe when pregnant. Any of them can give some relief. I always went with Tums. If you aren't sure, just check with your doctor.

My doctor suggested tums, but I never had horrible heartburn. I could usually take a couple of tums (sometimes I would need to repeat a couple of times) and it would cure / relieve the heartburn.

Do not take any medication while pregnant without first consulting with your doctor to determine if it is safe or not. There are also several web sites that can provide you with information on if it is safe to take certain medications while pregnant.
