It is common to have heart burn throughout the pregnancy. You are able to take over-the-counter medication for heartburn, including Tums and Gaviscon. If the heartburn persists, contact your doctor and they will be able to prescribe a prescription for you.

Many pregnant women suffer from heartburn. It often gets worse as the pregnancy progresses and the baby puts more pressure on the mother's stomach.

Yes, it is very common to have heartburn throughout the entire pregnancy. As the baby grows, the uterus pushes up against the stomach, causeing stomach contents, includign acid, back into the esouphagus. Also, digestion slows in pregnancy, resuting in increased acid remaining in the stomach for a longer period of time.

Yes, it is a very common side effect of pregnancy. The reason why most women heart burn is because the uterus presses up on all the organs which in turn are pressing the stomach acid back up into the esophagus and causing a slight burning sensation. This is also why it is more common after you eat.

Heartburn is extremely common during pregnancy. I once asked my OB about it who explained that the epiglottis, the piece of cartilage that keeps your food pipe closed, stays open during pregnancy. That leads to heartburn.
