The best and easiest way is to connect them through HDMI ports. This way you will get high quality display and audio with a single cable. If your DVD player doesn't have HDMI out, you'll have to use the standard audio and s-video out ports. Just make sure you have decent cables in a any case.

You will need to use a HDMI to RCA adapter. Your HDTV should have an RCA adapter on it. RCA adapters are also called composite.

The easiest way will be to use a set of RCA cables- these are the red, white and yellow plugs listed as AUDIO R, AUDIO L and VIDEO. The cables are cheap. The plugs are color coded and match on both the VCR and TV. See your TV's manual for how to switch input sources to see the VCR/DVD.

There is a place for a SCART plug on the backside of VCR DVD players. You can also find a similar place usually on the backside of HDTVs. Connect these two devices with a 21 pin SCART cable.

You can hook it up as if your HDTV were a standard television. Your TV runs at high-definition however the VCR/DVD Player is not an HD output. At best its upscaling in which case I would use component cables instead of standard AV.

If you want to record run your cable into the vcr dvd and then out to the tv. If not use one of TV connectors HDMI, Component Video, AV, S Video and use the input switch to select that connection when you want to play a DVD.

The vcr dvd player will probably have component out cables. Connect the component out cables (red, blue, green) to the in on the hdtv. It may use an hdmi cable.
