First off plug the RCA/AV (from your DVD player)Cables into your AV/RCA input in your VCR. Next make sure your VCR is powered on, and go to channel 3 or 4. (whatever channel you use to watch your VCR) Plug in your DVD player, turn it on,and pop in a DVD it should work.

Usually VCR's only have "Antenna" as an input. Since DVD players do not come with an "Antenna" output (which uses the coax cable), you need to buy a module to convert the signal from the DVD player to something the VCR will understand. This is accompished with a "RF modulator". They cost 15 dollars and can be bought at wal-mart.

Get two sets of combination stereo audio/composite video cables (bundled cables). Plug one bundle in auxiliary output jack on DVD player. Connect other end to auxiliary input jack on VCR.

It depends on the kind of inputs your VCR supports. Usually, VCRs come with "Audio/Video" in plugs - which correspond to the "Composite-video" and audio cables on your dvd player.
