best thing to do is to sit down and communicate your thoughts to them. best time to do that is at the dinner table. talk it over with them.

I made it clear to my parents that our future relationship would depend upon them treating me like a reasonable adult and cut contact - it got better over time.

It is important to set clear defined boundaries. A kind, firm way to do this is to say, "I appreciate your input, but I think I will do _____ instead."
