Attach a shop vac hose to the end of your drain pipe hosing. Turn vac on for approximately 5 - 10 seconds and this should do the trick!

Take the cover are casing off of the window unit. Get a high pressured water hose nozzle and spray the back of the window unit. It maybe clogged with grass and leaves. Remove anything visable. This should be done maybe three times durning the year. It may also be easier if you take the unit out of the window.

If you are seeing water pooling near your window, it is probably because of a clogged drain line. Most drain pipes are made of PVC materials, and they are designed to be easily maintained and cheap to replace.

Sometimes you can simply clean the drain out by hand with a stick or something making sure not to damage the internals. Then case should also come off for cleaning.

You can keep your drains clog-free and odorless. Use a homemade noncorrosive drain cleaner weekly. Combine 1 cup baking soda and table salt, and 1/4 cup cream of tartar. Stir ingredients together. Pour 1/4 cup of mixture into drain, and immediately add 1 cup boiling water. Flush with cold water.
