If you're using Window Media Player first you need to click "View" on the menu. Next mouse over "Enhancements" and when the menu comes up click play speed settings. You'll see a bar with increments marked on it. Click on the speed you'd like to use.

On every music player there is a knob which usually swivels or in other cases can be clicked.

I don't believe that any music players offer the feature of speeding up songs on demand. To the best of my knowledge, the only way to speed up a song is in a free music program, like Audacity. You need to speed up the song in a program like that first, then put it on the player.
