How do you change a spark plug coil?

Disconnect the wiring harness at the coil and remove the 8mm retention bolt. Pull the coil off the the spark plug. Pull the plug to check for damage. Reverse install.

2001 F150's have 30 or more spark plug coils, depending on accessories or options you may have on your truck. Once you locate the spark plugs, it's important to remove only the burnt out coils. Removing good coils and then putting them back in can create problems with the eleectrical system.
