Fill sink with few inches of cold water. Submerge bottom of rose stems in the water. Cut 2 inches off the bottom of stems (while submerged) in a diagonal angle. Leave stems underwater for a few minutes. Dissolve flower food in vase with water. Place roses in vase and remove any dead foilage.

When you receive roses, the first thing you should do is to cut off an inch or so from the bottom. If you cut it at a 45 degree angle, they might last longer. Now put them in a vase with water, and provide sunlight. To make them last longer there are chemicals you can put in the water.

One way to keep them fresh is to cut the stems an inch or so up the stem from the bottom so they absorb more water. It is best to cut the stems with a non-serrated knife , and to cut them on an angle. Also, use luke-warm water
