Make sure you keep a large cage for the chinchilla, as they are active animals. They must have a good, healthy bedding, not pine or cedar. Make sure to keep a steady supply of food, water, and fresh bedding, daily, and be sure that you lift your chinchilla (when handling) much like a kitten, in order to keep it safe.

Chinchillas are really fun pets. They must be fed a quality diet that can be found in most pet stores. In addition to feed they need hay, chew toys and once in a while snacks. They can not get wet, but instead roll around in a "Sand Bath."

The larger the cage, the better. Provide kiln dried shavings. Lift the chinchilla like a kitten. Replace the drinking water daily. Remove dirty bedding daily also.
