Hampsters make great pets. Make sure to provide fresh food and water daily. Change the hampsers bedding every 2 to 3 days. Provide your pet with a safe interesting cage to live. Handle the hampster daily to socialize it.

Hamsters are dependent on the mom until they are about two months old. Be careful around the mom because she is protective of the babies. Make sure that the mom stays nurtured and well fed to provide healthy milk for her children. Make sure the bedding and cage is clean so the babies dont contract any diseases.

Hamsters are easy to care for. They do fine in a small cage. They love to exercise in a running wheel. You need to put shavings in the cage. They like to hide under the shavings when they sleep.

After 2 weeks with their mother you can handle and care for a baby hamster just as you would any adult hamster.
