Certified Nursing Assistants in Texas have to pass a certification exam. Most people take a one semester program at a community college to gain the necessary understanding of medical terminology and basic skills of providing nursing care. Before entering such a training program, prospective CNAs must complete basic CPR training as well. Both educational courses and exam-based certification are required.
