Women love sincere compliments. Tell her how pretty her hair is or how nice her dress is. Be interested in HER. Ask general questions that aren't too personal.

I think that a genuine way to approach women, depending on where you may be, would be to casually go up to someone you would like to meet and say hello. Introduce yourself and tell them your name, possibly ask if they would care to talk over coffee.

This is an age-old question but the answer can be rather simple. Avoid thinking of women as inherently different from men, even though there are critical differences. You should consider acting in a similar fashion around women as you do around other men, perhaps minus the crude or lewd talk unless you know the woman is comfortable with that conversation.
