How do they treat vomiting bile from my cat?

Answer by  mammakat (11147)

We shouldn't be talking treatment here, we should be talking diagnosis. If your cat is vomiting bile, she needs to be seen. She may have ingested something poisonous, or a foreign body- in one case I had a cat with a needle in it's throat. She may be very ill.

Generally the short term solution is to put the cat on an IV to prevent dehydration. The long term solution is often more complicated (ie. diet changes)

The don't treat vomiting and bile. A vet would try to determine and then treat the underlying cause, which is probably a poor diet, or foods not meant to be eaten by cats.

The vet will determine the cause of the vomiting. Withhold food for a a day but make sure water is available. When able to eat, start with a low-bland food.
