Some plants don't need to be "rubberized" because they are actually "Rubber plants" and they are used no make things like the eraser on you pencil. Other plants are sprayed with waxes or chemicals so that dust won't stick to them.
Are you referring to a rubber tree? It isn't that they rubberize the plant, there is an actual plant (Hevea brasiliensis) that was used in the making of rubber.
