Most STDs are passed on through skin-to-skin contact, and men and women are equally susceptible to infection. Some STDs require fluid contact, fluid needs to get inside the man's body.

Males can get STD's by having intercourse with someone infected. It is more uncommon to catch something if you are using prophylaxis, such as a condom. Also males can technically be more susceptible if they are receieving anal penetration due to the walls of the anus being a membrane and thus spreading the disease quicker.

Well, the penis has the urethra, which the viruses from the infecting female can travel up. When they travel up, they enter the body and begin to replicate themselves. In this sense, males do not have as protective of a system for STDs as females. Urinating frequently can lower the risk, as the acid can kill some viruses.

It is not necessarily easier for a woman to catch a STD; it varies with the disease and the exact nature of the exposure. During any unprotected sexual intercourse, body fluids are traded between both partners. Keep in mind that this diseases are caused by microorganisms; you can't see them, and they can be transmitted by tiny amounts of fluid.
