How do I write excellent cover letters?

Answer by  Tink1712 (145)

Cover letters should be one page or less. They should be block style, so that they are easy to read. They should start by thanking the potential employer for the job opportunity. The central paragraphs should highlight skills from previous jobs and experiences that will be beneficial in the sought-after position. The concluding paragraph should attempt to schedule an interview.

The key to an excellent cover letter is clarity. You want to be sure you state the position you're applying for, experiences you've had that qualify you for the position, and reasons you'd be an asset to the company. Be clear and concise. Good Luck!

Refer to specific details about the position, and double-check them for accuracy. Organize the letter into tightly coherent paragraphs. Edit several times; have someone read the final edit. Proofread twice.
