Usually a compressor that is having issues will either leak or squeak. If you are not noticing any of these issues most likely you are not having compressor issues. If it is leaking most likely you will need a new compressor which you can get from a junkyard or parts store.

If your talking about the Ac compressor you cant really trouble shoot it. Its a much easyer and cheaper problem to buy a used one at a junk yard.

well the first step is to look into the owners manual of the windstar. If you are unable to find your answer there, then I suggest that you call a Ford mechanic and see what the problem may be.

This is a difficult task to do unless you own the proper tools to check out the compressor. You will have to check each piston and valve in the engine to determine the compressor pressure with each one. You can then double check this with a mechanic to see where the problem lie.

It is a difficult task to find the problem, unless you earn the proper tools to check out the compressor. It is good to call a mechanic for repairing.

That really isn't something you can do yourself at home. It will have to be taken to a mechanic. Sorry.
