How can I troubleshoot a problem with the horn on a 2005 Honda Civic?

I think it is a problem with the electrical, but not sure.

Start by figuring out what other devices are on the same circuit as the horn. This can easily be found by looking at the fuse box diagram. If the the designated fuse is good, and all other devices on that circuit (if applicable) are functional, we have isolated the issue to the horn itself.

Check the horn fuse. Disconnect wires from the horn and connect to a test light. Push the horn button. If the test light lights. Replace horn. If no light, test the horn relay.

Step one: unplug the horn, install a 12 volt tester and see if it lights when hitting the horn. Step two: check fuses. Anything else, bring it to a professional.

You can short a wire from the positive side of the battery to the horn to verify it works. If so, find the horn relay under the hood. Replace it.

The best thing to do is to locate the horn fuse in the fuse box. If the fuse is good have someone press on the horn and make sure you are getting power to the horn by using a test light.

You are going to want to make sure you did not blow the fuse. You are going to find the fuse box in the car under the dash and you will just need to find the fuse for the horn.
