Turn off the air conditioner. If you can run the fan only, leave the fan on. This will help it thaw faster. If the A/C is not running it will thaw pretty quickly. Make sure it is completely thawed and dry before turning it on again.

To thaw a frozen air conditioner, you have to turn it off or, at the very least, set it to "fan only" or a similar setting. An air conditioner will start to freeze if the unit is too small for the room that it's used for or if the temperature is lower outside than inside.

First turn the thermostat to off. Next, turn the fan switch on the thermostat to on, after that, place towels around the base of the air handler because a large amount of water will overflow the pan. Then wait.

To Thaw a frozen air conditioneris simple enough, you have to shut the air conditioning unit off. Next you can take a regular fan (pedestal fan) Place it in from of the air conditioner and turn the fan on, this will gradually thaw the ice on the frozen air conditioner. After it is thawed check the filter for cleanliness.
