How do I test the trigger switch on my Mercury outboard?

As a general rule, you have first to clean all battery connections and engine grounds. Then disconnect the tilt switch and retest.

You will need to go under the hood to the engine and that is where the trigger switch is located. You will need to get the start the car to start the switch.
