Any exercise that strengthens your abs - crunches, etc. will strengthen your lower back as well. There are back flexor machines at the gym that also strengthen.

There are three primary exercises that if done correctly will strengthen not only our lower back, but other muscles. These include, deadlifts, lower back extensions, and slow negative ab work.
