How do I retrieve a password for Windows XP on my Dell computer?

In Windows XP you can only retrieve a password by using the hint for the password, if that doesn't exist you can reset the password by using another administrator account or, i believe, booting from Hyren's boot CD (found on the web) and changing the password by the command line.

To retreive your password restart your computer and at the login screen where all the users are shown, press Ctrl-Alt-Del TWICE. It will bring up the old style login. Click account "Administrator", and log in without a password. Then change your password through Control Panel.
