This is a fairly difficult repair. If you consider yourself a novice I would insist that you contact an automotive expert. The fuel pump is located above the engine a little off to the side by the freon fill-up tank. You're going to need the right sized sockets for the job. Make sure the engine is cut.

To replace the fuel pump of a cadillac, you have to remove the fuel tank or remove the back seat depending on the model of cadillac you have.

You are going to need to drain all the gas in the tank into gas cans and then you can take the tank straps off and there will be a cap on the top of the tank. Take the cap off and the pump will be in there.

The fuel pump is going to be right next to the thermostat and serpentine belt on most late 80's Cadillacs.
