First, remove the existing caulk by cutting away with a utility knife. Clean all excess debris, and loose material from the surface. Cut the caulking tube at an angle to expose a hole of approximately one quarter of an inch. Apply in a steady bead from corner to corner. Using a rag, wipe down to finish.

First you will be to remove any old caulk that is remaining. The best way is to use some type of scraper. Depending on the window a square edge scraper might be best, or simply use an old screwdriver. Wipe off any remaining dust and apply caulk in a continuous bead. Prime and paint as needed.

Use a utility knife and carefully cut the edge of the caulk as it meets the window frame. Then using a putty knife, scraper, or 5-n-1 glaziers tool work at scraping the old caulk off the window. Using a caulking gun run a bead of good exterior grade caulk along the seams. Use a wet finger to smooth the caulk.

Use a utility knife to cut the old caulk out. Then put a bead of new caulk into the gap. While the caulk is still wet, moisten your finger and run it along the caulk to create a smooth surface.

Remove the old caulk with a razor knife. Once that is done, clean the area completely. You can then add the new caulk in the areas of need.
