How do I replace a ball joint on an S-10?

You will need a split wedge tool ("pickle fork") to pry the stem out after taking the castle nut off. The new one will go back in much easier.

First remove the tire and rim. Then remove the brake caliper and let it hang to the side. Remove the dust cap and the wheel bearing's holding the spindle on. The rotor will come off now too. Use a pickle fork on the ball joint and sledge hammer to loosen.

You will need to get under the vehicle of the car to locate the ball joint. Once there, you can replace it with mechanic help.
