You need something that covers the skin to protect from UV exposure. Mud is an ancient option. Talcum powder or chalk mixed with aloe vera gel will last for several hours unless washed off.

A very good natural sunscreen can be made out of a combination of olive or almond oil, beeswax, and a little bit of zinc oxide. These ingredients do not have any toxic chemicals or harmful effects on the body and will definitely protect your skin from the rays of the sun.

Heat 1 cup olive oil, and add 1 oz of pure beeswax. Once wax is melted, stir in 2 tablespoons of zinc oxide. Pour into container and cool.
