The best way I think is to use a bookcase with a cupboard that is fronted by a facet of fake books. Either this or to just hollow out some books themselves. The other option is to put in cupboards and hollows in the wall behind your existing pictures and paintings.

You can make a cubby hole in the wall and put a picture over it. Core out an old book and put in on the bookshelf.
