How do I improve my cardiovascular fitness?

My doctor says I need to work on it.

Anything that gets your heart rate up will work. try running on a tredmill for about 20 minutes or even fast walking on a tredmill.

The quickest way I know to improve your cardiovascular fitness is to climb stairs. This is a free exercise that you can do anywhere you find stairs. Climbing stairs gets your heart going, improves strength in your legs, improves your lung capacity and gives very quick improvement in fitness.
