Tree should be grown in full sun to keep color in well drained soil.Plant is very susceptible to pest and infections and will live 10 to 15 years.Should be pruned to keep oval shape in early spring after the flowers have bloomed.Roots need to be prttected as damaged roots will sucker.

Can grow in wide varieties of soil and conditions,well drained is the best. Stems will look like red brown to dark gray and tend to ooze sap. Roots will be close to the surface,if they are damaged they will make shrub send up suckers.
