The easiest way is to look online. Search for websites that have info as well as information on local group that can help you create a greener way of living. There are a lot of green site dedicated to improving your eco-knowledge. There are also a lot of television shows that also provide information on how to be greener.

A good first step is to increase the energy efficiency of your own home and workplace. After that, installing solar lights and a solar water heater are cheap first steps.

If you live in a state with deregulated energy, switch your energy provider to one that generates energy primarily from renewable sources such as wind or solar. You could look into purchasing a solar panel and hooking it to your house. Not only does it reduce your electricity bill, but you return the excess to the utility company.

Conserving energy is the best way to begin. Seal cracks in your house, place plastic over your windows in winter, block heat loss under doors, adjust your thermostat lower.
