On a shower with a tile floor the only part that is easily removeable is the strainer. You need a phillips head screw driver to remove the two screws holding it into place. If you want to remove the actual PVC drain assembly, it requires demolishing your tile and some of the concrete under the tile. Which ruins the seal.

Try using a strap wrench first if possible; using liquid wrench or WD40 to loosen the threads. If that doesn't work, you may want to use a dremel tool.

You will have to unscrew the old drain, clean any calcium, lime or rust build off from the pipe threads and screw in the new drain.

Showers vary by manufacturer and make, so you may try to find out what the manufacturer's specific information is for your shower. Some showers have the drain permanently fixed into the shower pan, if this is the case, you may need to find a way to improvise your repair.

You may have to chip up the concrete depending on if the drain was in concrete. If there is a sub floor then you just have to remove it.
