Borax can be sprinkled on wool carpets without causing damage to the fabric. The carpet should be thourougly vacumed after leaving the Borax on for about fifeteen mintues. The only caution is to be careful when using Borax around houseold pets, as it is not known if it will harm animals.

The main way to get rid of bugs that are infesting wool is chemical treatment. The two chemical treatment types most people use are either moth balls or moth crystals. There are other treatment methods such as freezing the material for at least 72 hours, but with a carpet, this can be more difficult.

First I would try to shampoo the carpet after running your vaccuum. To get rid of bugs inside your home you may need to ask a pest exterminator what to do. You don't want to use anything poisonous inside!

You could dust the carpets with boric acid or use treatments that contain allethrin, bendiocarbs, or chlorpyrifos. If those don't work, your best bet might be to hire an exterminator.

you can start by laying down carpet deodorizer then vacuuming to see what is left. there are also bug killing sprays that are safe for carpets. but the first thing is identifying the bugs that are in your wool carpets.
