To get someone committed you must have valid evidence to support that the person needs to be institutionalized. This evidence should be presented to the person's doctor or psychologist for review. If they deem it is necessary, you should follow their instructions from that point on.

If you think your father is a danger to himself or others you can get him committed. You should start off by trying to contact a mental health facility in your area. They will help you go through the proper procedures to get your mentally ill father committed into a facility that will keep him safe and treat his illness.

You need to have an intervention. Get a bunch of your family together and all of you sit and tell him the benefits of going into a hospital. He will be much better when he goes on medication. He can always have visitors so he wont be alone. Tell him he is not the only one.

Unless he is an immediate danger to himself or to others you can't force him to go into the hospital. I might recommend finding him a good therapist instead.

Since you are related, it won't be so difficult. You should contact his psychologist who can help you, or go to the courthouse where a judge can assist you.

You can try contacting social services if he is obviously too ill to take care of himself. In order to get him committed against his will you will need a court order.

This is very difficult. In most states, you have to prove to a judge that your father is a danger to himself or others. Even then, they would probably only commit him for a couple days so they could evaluate him. If he is dangerous, make sure you are documenting all his behavior. You might want to get an attorney.

In order to get someone committed, you need to get an involuntary committment order from the magistrate, as well as 2 confirmations from a psychiatrist. Assess for safety first!

If your father is a direct and immediate danger to himself or others then he can be forcibly committed. Otherwise, you'll have to convince him to enter a group home.

Though everyone in this world has affection and lover towards father and especially when the father is mentally ill. But you cannot make the mentally ill father committed while at home. It is better to consult some Mental Asylum or Mental Hospital in your area and get the father admitted there for the proper treatment.
