How do I fix a leak in the firewall area of my Jeep?

It usually does not take much to repair a firewall. Fiberglass putty or some type of bonding agent will suffice for plugging a leak.

It depends on how big the hole is. JB Weld/Epoxy can be used to fix small holes. Rust damage and more extensive holes usually requires welding work to replace the original metal.

If the leak is through a grommet, replace the grommet. If the leak is through any other passthrough in the firewall, apply a small amount of silicon sealer.

The bulletin recommends checking for any missing grommets or plugs in the bulkhead and sealing any suspect holes. They also recommend inspecting the kick panel areas by removing the front speaker grills and speakers, and also to seal the radio antenna plug. If you have an leak around the heater housing, it may be leaking in through the cowl area.

First find where the leak is coming from. If its a rubber plug thats leaking you can go pick one up. If not just jb weld it close.

Usually the leak comes from a rubber gromette that is used to protect wiring/cables that pass through the firewall. the gromette needs to be replaced

You can use some spray form adhesive, however this can becoming very messy. This will stop the water leak by plugging the hole.

The easiest way to fix a leak is find out how big of a hole is in your firewall that needs to be replaced and use rubber to plug it.

To fix a leak in the firewall area of a Jeep 1 Clean the leakage area throughly. 2 Do a visual inspection to determine the leakage. 3 If you cant find it visually get some diagnostic dye for oil and an infrared light. 4 Install dye,get engine up to the normal temp and inspect with light.
