Irregular shapes can generally be divided or broken down into a combination of common shapes. Draw the shape on paper and segment it into common shapes eg. circle, rectangle, traingle, semi-circle etc. and calculate the individual parts using the standard formulas. Then simply find the sum of all the areas together.

Take the irregular shape and break it into regular shapes. Ex: square,triangle, ect...). Find the area of each of the individual shapes. Add them all together. This is your answer.
