How do I deter my cat away from the window screens?

I feel for you! Cats love and destroy screens. My vet recommended a squirt gun (never spray in the face! )and it works VERY well.

There are a couple stratagies for keeping cats away from screens. First, whenever they claw the screen, or try to climb it, hit them with a squirt gun of water, or throw a can of pennies nearby. This will get them to associate being wet/loud noise with being near the screen.

Try telling them no and moving them away from the screen whenever they're near it. You can also try using a squirt bottle to deter them.

The most effective way to deter a cat away from anything is with a spray bottle of water. You could even keep a cat from going to a can of tuna if you sprayed it with water.
