When the plant appears to have several separate clumps of leaves, it may be ready to divide. Remove enough growing medium so you can see down to where the clumps are connected by a horizontal underground stem. Cut with a clean sharp knife, gently pull apart the two plants, and repot them after the cut has dried a bit.

When you see a little plant growing from the side of the mother plant, let it grow until it produces it's own leaves and air roots. This little plant is called a keiki. When it gets to be a reasonable size, cut it off from the mother plant. Pot it up in its own container and let it grow.

The simplest way is to watch for a keiki (baby in Hawaiian)growing from the side of the mother plant. This can also grow on a spike after the flowers have fallen. Remove when it has become big enough to have roots of it's own, and plant.

The easiest way is to split the plant in two if you have a second growth on your orchid. Make sure there are at least three bulbs with each plant when you are done or it may not survive. Trying to grow from seed is almost impossible for the gardener.
