A mile is a measurement of distance. A mile is a mile no matter whether you covered that distance on a bike or on foot. The only thing that would really change is the amount of time to cover the distance. Covering a mile on a bike uses more energy faster, on foot you use less energy but for longer.

There is not direct correlation between bike miles and walking miles, however, biking expends about the same amount of energy as jogging, so you can relate those two by time.

Bike miles represent a certain distance traveled. Walking miles also represents a distance traveled. Because they both represent the same thing bike miles are exactly the same as walking miles.

Not in terms of calories burned. You travel a far greater distance via a bike to equal the same benefit of walking a shorter distance. For example, when you move one leg and then the other on a bike you travel farther than walking two steps.  add a comment
