cleaning

Question by  bepley (1)

How do I clean mold/mildew off of fabric-covered furniture without bleaching out the pattern or colors?

It's a nice couch (minus the mildew).

Try a bit of spray cleaner on the back or bottom to be sure, but a good spray of Mr Clean should make it as good as new. Ammonia will be the key to getting rid of the mould, but it may be a color-bleaching issue.

Use dry scrub brush on spot, vacuum. Discard vacuum bag. Fill spray bottle with equal parts water and white vinegar. Saturate spot, leave 5 minutes. Use clean rag to absorb excess. Mix 1 gallon water and 2 Tablespoons mild detergent. Sponge suds on fabric, scrub. Wipe excess. Let air dry.

Try a 50/50 solution of rubbing alcohol and water on interior furniture fabric. Test on fabric first. Rinse- clean rags and blot. Dry by blotting with clean, white absorbent cloths.
